Sex reversal in chickens

at the bottom of the paragraph, how does sex reversal occur, it says, "There are reports of these ovotestes producing semen capable of fathering offspring. Most, however, will never lay an egg or sire offspring."

and I found another good link- http://books.google.com/books?id=dFQu3f1mjswC&dq=theories+and+problems+with+genetics&printsec=frontcover&source=bl&ots=YK2VKrEKlA&sig=5i6F9pczU3l2kIieVzO8v1u54xs&hl=en&ei=HRAESv6iBc_gtgeisPWcBw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1#PPT163,M1

I have a 4 year old buff Orpington hen who just started crowing the other day....I am fascinated by the fact that she may be undergoing spontaneous sex reversal. Anyone who has witnessed this, I'd love to talk to you!
