Sexing 4 week old chicks.

I figured with the green legs after thinking about it that they we EEs. Its frustrating that I didn't get any Welsummers, I'm ok with more EEs. I just wish I could a local feed store that had some Welsummers or a local breeder.

They look like Easter Eggers so far with leg and feather color and cheek puffs and combs. As far as pullet or roo, try and get a close up picture of the combs. 3 vertical rows of "peas" is roo, 1 vertical row of "peas" is a pullet. I'm not 100% on roo or pullet at this point.

Is that true of all EE? I understand them to be cross/mix-breed chickens, so was not sure if there would be a set rule for the comb given the different breeds that could go into producing an EE - but am quite keen to know since I have three little EEs in my brooder at the moment and am anxious to have them reveal their genders, lol.

Some EE's don't display a regular pea comb but sometimes a single or any other variety depending on what breed was used in the cross which in that case makes them more difficult to sex. Just going by my experience which was with Ideal hatchery EE's.. They cross either Araucanas or Ameraucanas with whatever breed they have handy. Mine happened to both have pea combs, single row of peas so pullets. Here is a link that may help on combs. Some of the info isn't correct but I like the link because it shows a good pea combed roo EE and a pullet pea comb EE and a few in between mixed breed combs and typical pullet EE coloring vs EE roo coloring. Hope it helps.http://www.homegrowngourmet.org/how...crow-gender-identification-in-young-chickens/

Cute chicks. I would say wait another 6 to 8 weeks and then take pics and post them. It will be much easier to tell male and female by comb development, feathering etc.
