Okay maybe I'm insane but I'm starting to see a pattern and be able to sex my chicks when hey hatch based on the thickness of their legs. The chicks that hatch with thick legs from my last two hatches have all been boys, and the ones with slender legs have been girls. I actually marked the last batch to test it. Has anyone else noticed this? The breeds are all different andsome are standard and some are bantams but it always works for me. Kathy

That is a good indicator. Also, if you turn the chick over and look at the vent and squeeze a little dookie out of it, the males are supposed to have a little bump there. A loop helps. That said, I never was any good at it myself, but the people I learned it from were.

Now if I could just figure out how the sex the eggs, the roosters could go straight to the skillet and the hens to the incubator.

If you figure out how to sex that egg, clue me in please.
