You cannot vent sex an older bird. It's also not "super easy" unless someone is a trained professional. Most here seeking advice are not.

Do not vent sex. It's not worth injuring your bird to try and get a jump on gender. Be patient and wait 6-8 weeks.

You dont vent sex quail like other birds, i just look for the bulbous sack behind the vent, on an older bird they are huge like the size of your thumb. Its blatantly obvious.

I think the difference you would see is based on how the area behind the vent swells in males and fills with foam. It looks like a scrotum when it’s really full. This makes it so the same amount of feather follicles are covering a larger area, so it appears there’s less fluff. A male who isn’t foaming yet, or who just mated and emptied out will look like it has more fluff than a male who’s filled up. So a boy can look like it has lots of fluff one day, and much less the next.
