My first flock is about 3 months old. When will I know for sure all six are female? I keep watching for someone's comb to be brighter or for leg spurs, but so far I haven't noticed anything different. Is it too soon?

They should be old enough to tell now. If all their combs/wattles are small they are all pullets. But if they have a pretty developed/big comb/wattle they are most likely roos.

ETA: I looked through your blog and they seem to be pullets.

When they lay eggs!

Not being totally facetious as I have been fooled completely in the past by some chickens who choose to have entirely ambiguous looks.

Hope they lay eggs for you soon,

Sandie

Yes, I was told, of my bantams, that three were pullets and the other two they thought were roos. Well when the eggs came, only two were laying and the third, whom I was assured was a phoenix bantam, never layed and egg, never crowed either but tries to breed with the two pullets. It is not a phoenix but a phoenix game bird bantam cross.
