Sexing cream legbars *2 chicks in question *

This is the frustrating thing. Auto sexing has to be culled for, like any other trait. If your source breeder kept these ambiguous chicks and used them as breeding stock, she's simply perpetuating the lack of auto sexing trait. I'd say please, please, whatever gender they turn out to be, please don't breed them. It's just doing a disservice to the breed.

That could be why I did not recognize them. I have had a few "Pat" but none like that.

There's got to be something wrong with our CLBs

We just hatched 7 more and NONE have the dot on their head. They range in color but at least all have the chipmunk pattern. I don't get it.

You may want to start collecting after each hen lays. Keep the eggs from each hen separate, and mark them so you can identify which eggs came from which hen. This way, you can try to narrow down which hen is throwing the most ambiguous chicks, and which hen produces the easiest to sex chicks.
A bit time consuming, but easier than starting completely over with new stock.

agree with donrae

Wow, this post cost me 4 minutes of my life I will never get back. At my advanced age that is around 7% of my remaining time.........

I had to go back and see what donrae said... I agree too...

The whole time I was under surveillance by a zombie finch! I would not want to breed any of this group, even the ones you can discern the sex on. They maybe carrying the genes that are so ambiguous. I would find another source of breeding CLB's. Maybe a reputable NPIP breeder from Minnesota.....

Ok. Thank you all. Just our luck

We did buy from someone who was NPIP certified. We looked forward to this for the past 7month.
