Sexing your Silkies (PICTURES AND TIPS - Updated July-5-12)

Pics
I have an 8 week silkie. I believe is a cockerel. He walks upright, bumps chests with my other young cockerel, and is twice the size of his "sister" hatched the same day. But the thing that really sticks out to me is his comb! It has already begun to turn red-ish ... Just wanted to throw it out there and see what you all think?

Theses are @ 4 weeks old.

These silkies are close to 4 months old. One white, one dark and one light brown. What do you guys think? Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I'm hoping someone can help me get some insight on these little ones. I'm leaning towards mostly cockerels ;( but I sure hope I'm wrong!! They are approximately 8 weeks old, they all came together, but I don't think they were all born the same day.

We got these "girls?" from a lady locally. She said she knew they were hens because they "looked like girls" (eye roll). Their mama is a silkie, but I am wondering if Daddy was or if he was a handsome stranger as she has many types of chickens and not all are contained

They are roughly 6-8 weeks. My daughter loves them and named them Chopsticks (white) and Soy Sauce (gray)

Any guesses?

Sadly, I'm thinking this one is a roo.:( Where I live, we can't have roosters. So, I hope I'm wrong but I think I may have heard him "tid bitting" when he came to his food dish, tonight. This chick is almost 3 months old. Any thoughts?

Sadly, I think you are right. The swept back look of the head and the prominent comb makes me say roo. I'm no expert, by any means but this is how my only Silkie looked at that age. Mine isn't very loud and he also "talks" like the hens a lot but he does crow. He even sings egg songs with the girls! Lol.
