4 pics of Spike at 15 weeks old. Such a mystery with no rooster behavior, cute peeping noises, no saddle hackle obvious feather thing, girl shaped body and not an upright stance BUT little mulberry wattles, slight streamer looking head, and decent comb.

Hi Amy. :frow

Well... the incorrect comb type makes sexing a little more difficult. When comparing waddle size with the boy next to him in the last pic, I would think later blooming cockerel.. but not willing to jump to conclusions. To me saddle feathers don't become obvious on Silkies this early... but the combs are often pretty good indicators by now... I love a good mystery! :pop

I think boy boy still possible hope for a girl. :fl

Well, I am not a sexpert for real. I can only make an educated guess. I get many right but I have been incorrect before. ;)

My Silkie that ended up with a straight comb, was female, comb was about that size. Come to think of it... I don't see any pink at all even in the waddles. The boys do tend to develop much faster than gals. With no behavioral indicators as you mention... boys become VERY obvious compared to ladies by this age. So while ladies keep me guessing, boys *usually* do not this late!

Also *she* isn't sporting streamers even though it's a little wild, definitely not the boy feathers mine get there, though it might still be early.

How about a frontal pic of the other "gals" comb ... after much reasoning out... actually changing my opinion to probably female... Is that helping much?! :p Sorry :D

Yeah the weird comb is no help lol. BOTH of my blue silkies act totally female and their bodies look female and their heads and combs are so different! I'll get some close ups today. I started with four blue silkies and sold the two as chicks that I was guessing were the boys (big legs, stood straight, bossy) so I hope I chose wisely because these two are sweet passive calm lovebugs!
