SF attacked AGAIN she is gone.....Graphic Pics!

I think she'll probably recover with treatment, although it's hard to say what she'll have for tail feathers later on.

I would be very concerned about putting her back in. Please don't try to put her back in unless it's a time when you can be available to save her again. When attacks go this far, the flock dynamics are sometimes such that the victim can never be successfully reintegrated into the flock.

If you can reintegrate her, that would be wonderful. If you can't, she might do very well in a different flock, with more gentle companions.

I hope this works out for both of you. Faverolles are so sweet.

Thank you woodlandwoman...she is very sweet and shy. That is why I think she got it so badly...she does not fight back. Her three sisters will but not her.

I will make sure when we try to put her back in that either DD or I are out there with "the Stick" for a couple of hours. When I integrated my middle aged girls with my older ones, I sat out there with "the Stick" and a good book for an hour. I just showed the big girls "the Stick" when they went after the middle girls...that was all it took. They have been together since late September and not any real problems...I did have one peck to the face to treat and one comb peck but that was when my main girl died and they were jostling for top spot.

I hope Fancy can go back with the flock because I do not have separate quarters. My coop is divided in half...the younger ones in one area and the bigger girls in the other. The bigger girls get to go outside but the younger ones do not at present. Too cool for them right now anyway with their naked butts.

Update... she went poo with no trouble so all is well there. She is alert, eating and drinking fine so I will keep her inside today and tonight and try to integrate her back into the coop tomorrow.

I will upload a current pic in a bit. she is loving the being spoiled.

Edit: Pic of her in her "medicine box". I put her in the box until the blu-kote dried. She loves it and thinks this is great being in the house.

Hi, Cetawin. I am so sorry for your poor little girl. I have had the same problem before and you have doe exactly the right things. I have never lost one to this type thing yet (knock on wood) so I feel you will pull her through just fine. Just keep her wounds covered in the blu-kote and give her good stuff to eat with lots of protein to help her speed natural heelong. Adding some poly-vi-sol would be a good additional measure to be sure she has the nutrients she needs to speed the healing process.

and lots of luck

Well here is the update...

We integrated her back into the coop Sunday morning...stayed in there for nearly two hours with them and no one was bothering her.

So, yesterday morning everyone was fine...but between 1:00 pm checking on them and 3:30pm they had attacked her again!

Her little tail nub was a bloody mess and all around her vent. So, out she came, cleaned her up and back into the doggie crate. She was fluffy up huge and in shock.

I gave her water by dropper and could not get her to eat anything I offered. So, I gave her polyvisol and water by dropper ever hour. she never recovered. Sometime between 3 am and 7 am this morning she passed.

It is just so sad to me because she just did not have the heart or attitude to fight back. I knew faverolles were prone to being bullied and my 4 hung out in a group but they are just so docile.

So, I will bury her in a bit. I want to thoroughly examine her first though. I just could not do it with DD here so now that she is off to school, I can check Fancy out really well and see exactly what happened.
