I examined Fancy before getting her ready for burial and aside from the obvious pecking to the tail area and the vent area, nothing looks out of place with the exception of the vent itself.

the photos are graphic and I apologize but I want to know if anyone has any ideas on this. The first time she came in the house, the only issue was the severe pecking and feather removal from the tail. the second time, the tail area was again pecked and blleding as was the area around the vent itself. Also, you could hear a wet sort of flapping noise like you would hear from a deep gushing type wound. Each time she breathed, the vent was opening and making this noise. I checked inside the vent for bleeding or anything abnormal and there was nothing. But the vent never did fully close.

So, any opinions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I do believe she died due to the shock more than the trauma because she was not bleeding heavily when I pulled her back out of the coop.
