Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

That looks tippy to me.... hopefully the weight would offset that

I have what I know as a hog pan. ... Similar to this, but was cheaper at local farm store.

It's a bit high but that was the type of thing I was searching for when I found the ones above.

I've been thinking on similar lines concerning feed spill.
I would like to change over to a mash but there isn't a chance that C will be bothered with the extra work.
The problem with the assortment of feed trays there are at the moment is they all tip over when a chickens stands on the edge. Some hens just have to get their feet in the feed and scratch it out.

I'm going to try a couple of these I think. I'll find something to put in the middle to weigh it down.

I picked up 4 of this sort of dish at a charity shop for £1 each. They don't tip up, are easy to clean (just rinse and rub is usually enough, but they're dishwasher proof if you want them really sparkling!), and mine are in a nice sunny yellow as a bonus :D
edited to add a link to the sort of dish I was talking about!

and how would delivery work for that?
Well, that is an interesting question but I can see a wheelbarrow being involved at some point. It comes in one of the builders ton bags.
The delivery is free but I have a feeling it's going to be kirbside only.

that's what I was thinking. You might try to assemble the willing and able to shift it as well as help pay for it! Love those Mughan chickens :love

I use those but mainly for water as I hang the feeders in the run. I like the hig pans. They are very sturdy.
