Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Sort of dampish without raining properly. 11C and overcast.
Henry having a bath. No the hens didn't join him. The soil is still too damp for them. I've seen this bathing preference over and over again but can I convince people it's a thing as the Americans say.
It's almost as difficult as convincing people that;
The egg song is a hen calling for a rooster.
Chickens dust bath to remove the old oil they secrete, not parasites
Chickens are tribal creature, not flock creatures.
Chickens are capable of planning a course of action.
Broody hens know they are going to sit before they lay the first egg of a clutch.

Check this out! Henry has started to use the coop extension roost bar. Doesn't leave a lot of room for me though.:hit

I'm never quite sure exactly what the difference is.
A fairy egg is a tiny egg, most of the time without yolk or just a tiny spot of yolk. It contains egg white.

from https://hellohomestead.com/what-is-a-lash-egg.
A lash egg is an egg-shaped mass of tissue, pus and yolk-like material. Expelled by a chicken (in the same manner as an egg), it's typically a symptom of a bacterial infection, and it has caught many chicken owners by surprise. More info in the link.

PS was answered correctly. I didn’t see the previous answers until after this post.

That looks like a lash egg to me.

Lash egg is what you have . Fairy egg has white but no yolk.
Hope this helps.
