Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

There is only one rule; pay your taxes!:D
Taxes are pictures of your chickens.

However, this is not a chat thread. If people want to chat about non chicken related topics there are countless threads for this on BYC.
This is also an adult thread and that does need to be born in mind.
Primarily the thread is a diary of a bunch of chickens kept at an allotment I have taken on the care of.

A couple of tips for a happy thread life.
Many different nationalities post and read this thread. There are also people who eat their chickens and many different keeping circumstances.
Reading through the posts on any forum it is easy to find views one doesn't agree with. One simple stratagy can help everyone put foreward their point of view without starting a flame war.
Don't quote the person one disagrees with.
Click the like button and if you have an alternative view then post that as an unrelated post. This helps to clarify what you think rather than posting a knee jerk response to what the other person thinks.
Most views are welcome here. That's one way of learning and we all need to do this.

Finally, having been in the situation and found it intensly irritating, try to limit your post count. Nobody wants to have to wade through pages of drivel. I know some people are post count driven but I don't want that here, please, thank you.:)

I might as well pay the tax now. You had mentioned your chickens jumping in pots before. This one only went for the broccoli.

I think I must owe tax by now

Yesterday Agathae laid a shelless egg. Two of them. One in the morning, the other after they went to bed. I think she may have been stressed from the butt cleaning I gave her (she desperately needed it), but she's done this quite a bit, and she's relatively new to egg laying. Not sure when she started, but we got her September last year.
I'm thinking she was just plain stressed or needs to hire better people to make her eggs. Including the spray booth. Her eggs are almost white, not the blue they should be.

There must be a conspiracy going on with shell colors. A few weeks ago I had a Delaware laying a snow white egg every day for about 2 weeks. Today I had a RIR lay an almost snow white egg. Maybe there is Ozone in the air or something. :)

It might be useful to know; my Araucana's eggs are noticeably bluer on the inside than the outside. I think that means there's some impurity in the breeding and the bloom is distorting the true shell colour.
Would an impurity in the breeding be something like Agathae having a tuft and Felicitas not, even though they are both Cream Legbars?
