I should also point out you are on page 1400.Warm, dry and rather pleasant. Three hours today.
Got off to a rocky start leaving the flat due to having to break up a fight between two drunken pensioners. This pair could hardly stand up let alone land a punch.
Coming home had an unexpected bonus. The bus pulled up at the village bus stop, driver opened the doors and said they were running out of fuel and were going straight to the bus depot. They said they would make one stop in the city center if anyone wanted to take that and then on to the bus depot. The bus depot is half a mile from my flat so I get an express trip home.
No sign of Fret going full broody yet. She's got four eggs now.
We all got out. I got some stuff in the ground.
I think this apple tree looks rather lovely.

Excellent guidelines Shad. There is only one rule; pay your taxes!
Taxes are pictures of your chickens.
However, this is not a chat thread. If people want to chat about non chicken related topics there are countless threads for this on BYC.
This is also an adult thread and that does need to be born in mind.
Primarily the thread is a diary of a bunch of chickens kept at an allotment I have taken on the care of.
A couple of tips for a happy thread life.
Many different nationalities post and read this thread. There are also people who eat their chickens and many different keeping circumstances.
Reading through the posts on any forum it is easy to find views one doesn't agree with. One simple stratagy can help everyone put foreward their point of view without starting a flame war.
Don't quote the person one disagrees with.
Click the like button and if you have an alternative view then post that as an unrelated post. This helps to clarify what you think rather than posting a knee jerk response to what the other person thinks.
Most views are welcome here. That's one way of learning and we all need to do this.
Finally, having been in the situation and found it intensly irritating, try to limit your post count. Nobody wants to have to wade through pages of drivel. I know some people are post count driven but I don't want that here, please, thank you.![]()
She's of the breed " local farm mutt"Very pretty chicken
What is the breed?
I would be cautious before jumping head first into rooster keeping. You are all convincing me that I need a rooster more than any other kind of chicken.
If you have regular drivers you often see on the line you could always ask them politely if it's possible to take you to the depot regularly. The bus pulled up at the village bus stop, driver opened the doors and said they were running out of fuel and were going straight to the bus depot. They said they would make one stop in the city center if anyone wanted to take that and then on to the bus depot. The bus depot is half a mile from my flat so I get an express trip home.

Life is never a smooth road. I have heard how cuddly they are. That has been very convincing. Shad's article on Understanding your Rooster has also made me want one.I would be cautious before jumping head first into rooster keeping.
I love my roosters and don't regret having them but they have made my life and what's more important the hen's lives way more complicated.
We won't be getting roosters again after these two.
I'm all ready to admit it may be because of our own behavior, but do be aware that it's not always a smooth road. I hope I'm not being patronizing, Shadrach and most of the people on this thread have way more experience with roosters than I did and have great experiences, but I understand you are a teenager and I used to rush ahead without thinking of consequences thirty years ago.
I generally know what page I'm on; whether I'm on the right thread causes some anxiety at times as does which year and month it is.I should also point out you are on page 1400.
I want a rooster again. Especially after seeing that beautiful Henry.
