Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

No one, you don't have enough information. He put up all the buildings and started a gun training business without getting any permits. Flagrant violation of the laws in place. 30 acres might seem like a lot but I have 25 and I sure wouldn't think my neighbors would be happy with having such a business next door. Get permits or don't build.
I read he got permits. Then they changed their minds and recinded them.

A childhood friend from Connecticut now lives in Vermont. She has told me that the New Yorkers (city types) have ruined it. I read about a man who owns 30 acres in Vermont, who was told by a nearby town council that he couldn't have a firing range on his own property. He's out in the country. Now they're going to arrest him, then bulldoze his buildings. Who died and made them God?
I grew up on a 500 acre dairy, my grandfather started teaching me gun safety and how to shoot when I started walking, guns were always around and I needed to learn to respect them. I love the landscape, sunrises at Smugglers Notch, Lake Champlain, before the ice is gone, real maple syrup, I miss my fall colours, but they have gone off the rails. I like it here, well enough, it will never be really home, but we have our chickens and our guns, so I only complain about the heat..lol

Very interesting. If you have any links on oral contraceptives for chickens, please share.
Here is another paper. Again they used injectable progesterone (Depo-provera).

And finally here is a review article which cites both the studies I linked and another one by the first team which I have not read. Apologies if this is all too geeky!

Warn (26C) and sunny. No mites found after strip out so that is looking promising.
Only two hours and a half hours today. Stuff to do regarding the move and a trip out to look at some hens. I must admit, I didn't realise just how much of an impact the Bird Flue had on those who breed chickens to sell. Three places I've been in contact with went out of business.
I'm not going to take the Crested Crean Legbars I've been offered. I didn't realise they are free range birds and sticking them in a run for most of the day isn't something I would feel happy about.

Supper.

Going to have a good crop of blackberries this year by the looks of flowers and buds.

I keep writing this but Henry, Fret and Carbon just love getting in the fruit bush patch. It's the shade mainly, although having something to snack on definitely helps.

I got a royal cussing from the little lady from Cornwall tonight but she didn't draw a drop of blood. I ran her out of the log pile again tonight with a stream of water before closing up her coop. She thought she had pulled a fast one. Little did she know that when she perched outside by the coop door I could grab her standing flat footed from behind where she could not see it coming. I got a hold of her with and iron tight grip. I smiled while she cussed me. Wondering what she will try tomorrow night. The water cannon awaits her if she messes with me again.

I love to geek out on 7 point font academic papers. No worries. Thank you.
