Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Thanks! They're currently hovering at the door of the coop, obviously keen to come out, but mum's holding them back. She knows brooding is easier indoors than out on wet grass. Apparently some areas will see some sun today, but not us in the west of the country :( . This may be preferable to the sort of heatwaves some are enduring, but I and the chickens are really fed up with the dull days since June.
The sun is shining here and according to the Met Office we are due for a few reasonable days.

Lucky you! We've got drizzle. But they're out now anyway :p It's dry under the feeding station roof

I'm sure there is a consistency in there, but I've not discerned it yet
No, it's inconsistent  Compare -ough- in English (below)
I do wonder sometimes how much amusement / annoyance is had at the expense of the English when we try to pronounce anything Welsh :D:D
Quite a lot! And what fun the English have at anyone else's attempts to say -ough-

"Ough is a four-letter sequence, a tetragraph, used in English orthography and notorious for its unpredictable pronunciation.[1] It has at least eight pronunciations in North American English and nine in British English, and no discernible patterns exist for choosing among them.[1] " https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ough_(orthography) :p
