Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

yes, and I'm sure you're right on that.
At my house, two hens have known each other since 2018. Last night one helped the other (who's blinded on one side, temporarily I hope) to find the dry food and stayed with her while she ate and drank. They haven't roosted side by side for about 18 months. Perhaps roosting is not a reliable indicator.

I haven't seen anything like it. What I have seen is egg shell quality getting better after a molt and a long pause from laying.
After they turned two, five of my six ex-batts always had poor quality egg shell. The eggs themselves were nice I thought (yolks and white well formed, vibrant colour, and lot of taste).
Thanks for the response. I actually failed to mention that Light also molted in June and she was already not laying in mid and late June before she got sick at all.

She definitely had that long pause from laying.

So I ordered a Skeksis plushie from Petsies. Submitted the 3 requested photos of my sweet bird that I felt would give them the best idea of what she looked like. As expensive as it was, let's just say they missed the mark.

Well, a plushie was never going to represent her very well.

They tried and if I squint, I can see a little of Skeksis in the toy.

9.30am to 11.30am, then 4.30pm to 7.30pm.
Rain on and off most of the day but nothing torrential.
Keeping dry during a shower.

Working my way along the outside of the allotment run fence where I had piles up the pieces of the old coop. Two rats nests destroyed so far and one more to go about 2m further along. Signs of the resident fox at the back of the allotment run and markedly fewer young rats. In fact this evening I only saw one juvenile rat and both mothers who got into a bit of a scrap by the feed bins.

This one is the one I think is male and it tried a few branches out this evening.

Sorry you are disappointed. 🙁 I know you are missing her terribly. Like MJ said, I do see some Skeksis in there.
