Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

C is just awful.:he
They are, but one has to take in to account that they have mental health problems and lack of money and lack of skills. Not really the perfect ressume for farming or pets.
The whole idea of keeping any creature with this commune type idea that everyone will chip in and do a bit, was and still is, unrealistic and that is the underlying problem; as aart would say, romance meets reality.

I have hand warmer pockets in my jacket and I put the bags in the pockets, did what I neded to do with bare hands and stuffed my hands back in the pockets. Worked better than any of the gloves.
A great idea! I, too, prefer bare hands, which are usually cold hands, so these will likely be going in my pockets this winter and beyond. I think the chickens trust my bare hands more, or at least, that is what they are used to!

Sorry to hear about the last goose. No more sweary bunch 🙁

Henry seems like such a good sleeper, I would like to know his tips on falling asleep first and fast, head under wing complete!

A random thought - I once observed a pet bird grabbing a small beakful of back feathers to "hold on" while sleeping with head tucked around and back. I wonder if Henry does any feather grabs to help stay put under wing? Or perhaps their beak doesn't have the strength to do this like a parrot's might.

I don't ever recall anything fancy here for Christmas in terms of food.
I think our Christmas meal maps fairly well with your Thanksgiving, minus anything pumpkin. Turkey and all the trimmings etc. Since you indulge in late November it seems entirely natural not to do it all again a month later :p:lol: I usually can't wait to get back to some not-rich food by the time we get through all the leftovers :D
