Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

The eldest did the chickens this evening. It was her first time. I had until today tried not to involve my family in the old mans crazy obsessions. In the past I've tried writng out instructions with mixed success. This evening, thanks in part to earbuds and mic I was able to talk her through it. It was much faster and if there was doubt about something I could ask what she sees and work out what I needed to explain. I'm still leaving feed in the coop overnight to ensure they get a minimum of two feeds a day, which on some days is going to be difficult if I'm not there early enough in the afternoon.
I hope to be doing it myself tomorrow.
Eldests only comment, "I just don't know how you do this day after day."
Given it's her first time, and storm Bert's presence is still being felt, it must all seem very bleak and uncomfortable.
Glad she could help out. Especially with Bert dumping on her.

Hope you feel good enough to go tomorrow.

You do it every day FOR THE BIRDS.

Ex Batts good morning one and all!

Tea is ready.

Temperature is in the 60s sunny.

Have a great day!
Thanks for the nice wishes Ladies8 . I hope your day is/was okay.
I suppose the silence must be awkward 😕.
Are you making new plans?
Do you have an idea what you need to do to prevent this horrible experience to ever happen again?
Any idea when (if) you want start again with a new flock?

I didn't make it today and the eldest fed and watered the chickens.
The eldest can't get there until after dark, work and all that dreadfull business, so they're really only getting one meal a day while I'm sick.
The two bowls hold a bit over 400grams of feed which is just enough for non laying hens although a bit short for Henry who eats at least 100grams daily.
As you can see from the picture the eldest sent me, Sylph is hungry enough to eat after going to roost.

What about J?
Can he/she only go there in the weekend?

This beauty came to the little stream behind our garden to hunt for a snack.
Heron.
