Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

I already posted this on Bob’s thread and I know there is some overlap, but thpught we could have a little chat on hens crowing. Please share your thoughts and experiences. This is the first time I’ve heard it in my flock.
I've had several crowing hens. My BA lead hen used to crow. The Alpha Campine would crow & when I moved here the neighbours thought I had a rooster but it was one of their own bantam hens doing the crowing! :lau Mostly the girls haven't kept @ it for very long & it's been a pretty sick sounding crow but I have no idea what brings it on or why they suddenly decided to start/stop. I think it is more common than people realise ~ but 🤫 we don't want the hens getting banned along with the roosters in suburbia.

Loved the crowing hen. I have had a few over the years.
Recall Dad said no not changing sex just voicing an opinion. This is the tax.

Got to post this. One of the Ex Battery hens is broody! She was sitting on 6 eggs for 2 days.
This is great! Proves what we've been talking about, that broodiness can't really be bred out.

Will C let her brood or will you come to the allotment one day and find all the eggs collected?
