Just putting this out there for discussion, or not, as people wish: My roo : hen ratio is about 1 : 3 (7 males, 20 females) and I collected the 250th egg of 2025 yesterday.

Same ratio in bantams have 4 and they have laid 24 eggs so far this year. Well, more accurately the 3 hens have

I think some of the difference is that I cannot let them out too early or the neighbour would complain to the council & then I might lose them as it’s difficult to find places that will accept males

Xmoor is developing a characteristic leghorn comb as she is maturing, so I think she must be Amadeo's granddaughter

Her 'twin' Zoar has a crest and hasn't reddened up yet, but I assume they have more or less the same genetics, as all through chickhood they have looked like peas in a pod, bar the crest.

I finally got some eggs from Pooh and Tassels but I haven’t baked a cake yet. Celebrated with poached eggs on toast.

I'm about 5 months away from my first eggs! I have slowed way down on store bought eggs because they just aren't as good.
