Two and a half hours today. 18C and mainly dry.
Something was bothering these two this afternoon. While delighted to be let on to the field they stayed close to me, sometimes under my chair for at least an hour. I couldn't see anything but that doesn't say much.

I wonder if a four-legged predator cruised through earlier in the day? (or last night) Any new dogs or cats in the allotment homes?

Maybe Mr. Fox was in the neighborhood last night. Nice to see the Jackdaw pay a visit.

The six-week-old shows a precocious ability to tip over the food bowl.

I like silicone cake tins for open feed bowls. They're really difficult to tip unintentionally because the sides just squash down if they stand on them. Here I often find them in charity shops (thrift stores?) for £1 or less.

Loaf tins make a good chick-sized dust bath too

that jackdaw looks right at home! Amazingly close. It could be a useful ally if there is a predator lurking close by; and the girls don't seem bothered by it. I'm glad you didn't discourage it.
