I also succumbed to an impulse purchase while there; she has the most gorgeous isabella leghorns. There were only 4 Braekel eggs as my broody timed it just after she'd advertized eggs, so had sold a dozen already, so there was room for 2 little leghorn eggs too They look even better than this in real life

You're talking about the queen's jubilee, not your own, right ? Then I think that couple leghorns are definitely appropriate, they would perfectly belong in Buckingham palace.

Having more simple taste, I'm getting a couple of backyards mutt eggs from the farmer that gave us the bantams . At least I won't cry if it goes wrong because miss Chipie already seems to think she can take several off hours to enjoy the sun. Typical french, like my partner once told his employer we are children of the 35 hours week.

I hope they will be alright. When you're not used to it, must be sad culling new life even if it's the right thing to do.

Definitely one of the mentally hardest things I have ever done, and I was in the army for over 21 years.

I have 3 bantam EE girls sharing sitting on 6 eggs now

I've had a three way sit but spread over two nests. It worked out okay apart from the chicks in one nest hatched before the other and of course all the hens left with the first lot to hatch. Shame really because the others just died in their shells.
I didn't interfere but I think if it happened again I would make sure all the eggs were in the same nest.
