Well I need to go look at the fine print on the bag. But it is heavy so I will do that when it is cooler!
It definitely says oyster shell in big letters on it. And now I have seen actual oyster shell I am confident it is not that.
It might be crushed coral rather than crushed limestone (I really hope they don’t destroy coral to make it - maybe only corals we already killed with our sun lotions!).

And I have just discovered that the oyster shell readily available to me is in fact chunks of limestone I just sourced some actual oyster shell and it looks totally different. Mine aren’t that keen on the limestone so I am hoping oyster shell is more appealing. It certainly looks nicer!

I've often wondered about this oyster shell stuff people offer to supplement calcium.

Is the Betadine Solution and Vaseline mixture just for leg mites?

It is. The reason I believe I've found it to work well is because Betadine, or Iodine, are anti fungal as well as antiseptic. All the crud on the legs around the lifted scales seems to go more quickly than with Vasaline alone.

Give it a try. Mix well what you need in a small pot. I use a cut down paint brush to brush it on. Make sure the legs are well coated, as in smothered. Repeat weekly for three weeks once a week.

Oh yes. Some ingredient in it. You can now buy ones that are ‘coral safe’ but you have to look for it.
The irony of course is that people looking at coral are bringing it right up close.

And look where that type of thinking has gotten us. It's a shame to be so uninformed and cynical.
I do my research and give everything I can to the better candidate. I may not agree with all ideals but I'd like to put the best in office and keep the crooked out.

Bigger half of my flock is home braving the heat with DH. I have a broody locked in broody coop sitting on 10 eggs and an incubator full with 20 eggs. Thank goodness for security cameras as I can spy on all 24/7 and see things are working well. View attachment 3213441

I vote. I haven't yet in Bristol since I've been back.
It would be good if we had some politicians with convictions rather than schemes.
Don't know what the flower is but it looks dangerous.

For any of you who read the Brazilian study on incubation I linked to earlier, what do you think?
I timed a few hens turning their eggs when they sat and hatched in the house nest box. I've got every twenty minutes on average for the first three or four days. Then I've got a increase in time to between half an hour and an hour.
The study points out that the first three days are critical in encouraging problem free embryo development.
From what little I've read about the incubators used they turn two or three times a day.
Lots of information in the study I thought.

@Shadrach have you ever seen a tough Silkie rooster? Mine put a beating on a juvenile rooster a few days ago. I believe Viajito would have killed him if not for my wife.

Mine the bigger one says turner only turns once every four hours.
I have always had more than 80% hatch rate on viable eggs.
