Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Yes.I used them too for fencing for a blue Monday.
They sell them in the pet shop for temporary rabbit fencing. But they are quite useless for rabbits bc the rabbits escape. And chickens do so too.

Now I use them to protect new plants and seeds from the chickens. And to close the opening between the two runs if I need to separate chickens. Like integrating Kraai and the flock in July.
I imagine these panels would be perfect for chicks to escape from an adult, especially if a few extras were arranged over the top as a ceiling.

I have panels like that and they're very handy for chicken fencing. They would've come with some narrow gauge stakes that pass through the sides of the panels and be pushed into the ground - maybe a few of these will turn up too.
I thought they might be.:) I'll be hanging on to them.

I've got that autumn feeling where all I want to do is sit with the chickens and watch the sun go down. Other than that I'm getting me and the chickens kitted out for unsettled and colder weather.

This is the sick Legbar looking normal again.

I closed the circular adjustable vent above the roost bar on the RHS. The wind had picked up a bit and the hens voted with their feet. Now, if necessary I can close off both the front adjustable vents, leaving the back vents open and not have wind blowing in except through the pop door.

They look nice and cozy in that last picture.
