Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

It doesn't make it any less painful though. She was a very unique and special chicken.
No, of course not. I feel the same way about Cleo. I only wished to express that in case you felt like getting the meds in time would have made the difference, and felt any guilt about it -- it is one of the stages of grief, after all -- that it probably wouldn't have mattered. I'm sorry for your loss.

my wife suggested that i take her to the vet about a week before i actually did. I do feel like that inaction cost my bird her life.

Oh she sure was! I remember the selfie you posted of you and her in the van on the way to the vet a while ago! That was awesome! She was so lucky to have you! :hugs

:hugs so sorry Ladies-Eight.

Do you know what caused the seizures?

She (Gretchen) had seizures prior to this one here one there.

Don't know what caused the seizures.

I had had her cremated and she sits in my family room.

Doxies are known to have seizures.

Brussels sprouts are a fall crop and have the best flavor when harvested after a frost. You should have plenty of time to plant again by July....
Yep, and plant some parsnips and rutabaga while you're at it! They are also fall crops and go well with brussel sprouts

I can't stand that feeling. It's unavoidable with chickens because of how skillfully they hide symptoms, the fact that avian veterinary resources are upsettingly slim, and that we're such a different species it's nearly impossible to figure out what's going on with chickens sometimes. There's just no way to bat 1.000.

Here's to forgiving yourself and focusing on the good life you gave her.

Took the camera out just now but didn't get any TAX gathered. A Delaware pullet got my attention with a sore eye. Going to town after some eye ointment. One eye is fine but one is cloudy looking. Maybe TSC will have something. If they don't Walgreens is next door.
