Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

The pharmacist option is maybe interesting for humans but I don't see how they would be qualified for veterinary prescriptions.
Lots of the drugs humans take are fine for other creatures at the right dosage.
I'm not going to say anymore.:duc

I had one like Mow in each of the hatch. Isn't that not always more or less the case ? And are you not secretly happy that she loves her freedom ?
More or less. I just don't like her being so far from the rest.

He and his three Speckled Sussex hens will be one year old next Monday. Hard to believe...

Grey with drizzle at 7C.
Despite the weather we all got out for a couple of hours. Geese were very shouty this afternoon. I've fenced the allotment run in half and the geese are complaining they cant get down the chickens end and eat their food.:D

I managed to get the Rosemary bush I've been meaning to transplant in my developing herb section on my plot. There was a bit of root damage when I dug it up so it's :fl.

well you won't have to worry about watering it in, given the weather here of late! On the other hand, a hole in the ground would quickly become a sump round here. Field in front had a river in it again yesterday, and there was pooling on the lawn by the silver birch .

In other news, Whitford finally got her shell gland issue sorted out, laid 15 good eggs with only a day off in the middle, and has now gone broody :th Maybe carpe diem is her motto. Anyway, I'm tempted to pop her in with Chirk till she gets over it, so she doesn't dissuade the three maturing pullets from using the nest boxes in the coops. I really don't want to need another coop
