Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

I am finding I have similar problems but less severe with long covid and shingles. I just don't have the energy or the clarity of thought to function as I should. It's 3am in the morning as I type this. Most nights my sleep pattern is so broken that I struggle to get three hours sleep without getting woken up by the pain in my left eye. Many things that were easy are now exhausting. I have been to my eldests birthday celebrations earlier this evening and when my youngest had driven me home I fell on the bed and didn't get up to wash and clean my teeth etc until two hours had passed by. It will pass and/or I will find a routine that allows me to cope better/

I understand how you feel.

I don't sleep well at night and then I don't want to get up in the morning.

My energy is way down which makes it hard when taking care of hubby.

I am now in week 27 with the shingles.

Hope you get better soon!

I'm sorry for people's illness. It stinks when you're sick.

If I might, I would like to recommend a couple supplements.

D is very important for immunity. Most people are deficient, I was for years despite taking D vitamins, blood levels in the teens, should be above 30. I read that D supplements work better when you also take K. I started taking K. Two weeks later my D level had increased from 18 to 39. It's now at optimum, in the 60s. I rarely feel or get sick anymore.

Another good supplement for immunity is zinc, but zinc works better with quercetin. I take both. I consider it an investment in my health.

Zack is a Good Roo.

I already take Vitamin D as well as Vitamin A, B, C, E, and Folate for years.

I can't take Vitamin K as I take Aspirin daily related to my A-Fib.

I do not take Zinc.

I have I believe 10 cockerels currently, the youngest chicks are starting to show signs of their sex. So far no big fights because of these two boys keeping everyone in line.

The little golden sebright in the back is in charge and the stripey polish fellow is definitely the muscle who breaks up squabbles.
Unfortunately I won't be able to keep this cochin fella, would be too dangerous having a large fowl male with my bantam hens.

He's so pretty though! And he was the first ever chick to hatch here!

I haven't seen the hawk in a few days, perhaps it flew south for the winter?

Post Scriptum : I deeply regret raising the issue and will now really keep my mouth shut about subjects that do not directly ensue to chicken.
I don’t mind at all. BYC is a social platform too. And if I understood the rules in this thread right, you only need to post a photo from your rooster or 2 hens after non chicken talk.

I find I sleep best from around 5am to 11am. I have absolutely no idea why this is.

Ten! What are you going to do with them all? I can't see that working out.

Maybe they are like me and look forward to dinner, just getting them there is sad.
Out of 16 that hatched here 4 are pullets, coyote got 2 cockerels.... but I eat 2 or 3 chickens a month. So I'm short of chicken. I have 9 jakes so that will have to do.
