I clearly have blinkers of some kind. I don’t know what suggestions you are all talking about on YouTube. I just see history and my videos.I don’t get ads either. It’s lovely.
It’s just those freaking suggestions over on the right on YouTube.![]()
I trust she doesn't try to shove her head under your bum...Fret is most aware of the safety I provide. She will head to me when she's not happy about something
AI is pretty terrifying, cool (in a geeky, wow, can't believe they have been able to do this, sort of way), but terrifying.AI! IT'S THE ONLY THING YOU NEED! STOP TAKING PICUTRES AND USE AI GENERATED ONES! GIVE THE AI YOUR LIFE!
Wow, but "they aren't spying on us...". I think once I retire, I am going to go off grid, no cell phones, no tech. Chickens, turkeys, ducks, my garden and books. Our electricity provider is pushing smart meters, I keep telling them where to go, starting with polite, "No Thank you" escalating to quit calling me, to PO, when they get really rude and pushy.I just thought I would mention on the topic of privacy and security...
I asked Find My Device on my new phone to locate my old phone which isn't switched on and doesn't have a SIM card in it. The program found it.![]()
I have noticed that with this crew too, but I have noticed, that when I go running out to discourage the hawk from thinking we are a diner, they are all under cover, but if I say anything, they all come running out. If I go out in stealth mode, the girls and other boys stay sheltered, but Spud always knows and comes running out of cover and jumps up on the roof of the shade hut, almost like he is trying to protect me or to at least be backup if I have to fight the hawk..lol He really is such a special rooster.Do you think they want you to fill the rooster role or that they just like to use you for safety while you're there?
The birds are much more casual about safety when I'm out with them. They'll wander in separate directions until the roosters try to herd them back together. Though even the roosters are far more relaxed when I'm there.
I don't mind that they look to me for safety, particularly since they switch back to full vigilance when I'm not around. Seems like they zip under the bushes for naps the moment I head back to the house.
So essentially we have to pay by signing up for Premium, and even then, the suggestions are there, just not absurd. And still no way to turn off the suggestion display when not needed? So @ChaosMom
I have never once blocked Google or YouTube ads, I also have YouTube premium, it's cheap and I prefer how it's served and their music service is nice (which you get with premium)
This is what my suggestions look like when I click on an 'ambient music' video:

The *entire* list is just more music suggestions.
When you block these websites from getting to know you, they give you garbage recommendations.
There is an addon called 'unhook' (buyer beware, ymmv, download at your own risk, etc etc, I don't use it and cannot vouch for it's safety) that apparently is meant to block that entire sidebar - and you can also do this with uBlock Origin addon as well, you can go into the addon's settings and block 'screen elements' on websites.
Our internet experience can be curated to deliver to us exactly what we want; we just need to spend the time (and it's only a little bit of time, really) telling it when we want. Just my thoughts on it.
