Oooo! As I suspected all along: chickens are WAY brighter than we give them credit for, and getting smarter and smarter!Last time I did this was a few weeks ago during a heat wave. I suspect her of prolonging her broodiness because of the personal cooling service I provided!
Have you tried dunking the legs once a week for 3 weeks in surgical spirit, as per Roberts, Diseases of free range poultry? Since during moult the scales are shed like the feathers, and the mites are thus more exposed, the best time of year to try this is approaching. Not sure how it may or may not interact with the German vegetable oil though.I'm going to give this a fair trial.
It was recommended to me by La Fleche. I've used it before, but not on it's own.

You forgot the guy wearing pajamas that stands up and falls over with the camera and mic on erupting in some loud yelling.I have just wasted a ridiculous amount of time trying to imagine a Zoom chicken meeting. For one thing, they would never mute themselves!

I think this information is extremely important and we all need to be thinking about it. And it does at least touch on chickens tangentially.Anyhooo... I apologize for highjacking the thread with geopolitics and such. It's just that I actually am really invested in these matters. Watching the chickens is my solace and comfort. So... Back to chickens. Apologies.
She might get frost bite.Well every time I have deployed ice she has given up within 1-2 days.
So my impression is that it works.

Thank you!
@BDutch Anyone who doesn't know you at least a little bit would NEVER guess that English is not your birth language. And most others would never believe that you're mostly self-taught. Kudos to you, my Chicken Friend!Im no moderator, but as a follower of this thread I didn’t understand what it was you were replying to.
Checking , made it clear you replied/quoted to a 2 year old post. Unfortunately @TropicalChickies isn’t an active member anymore. Of course we all forgive you. Especially bc you are a relative new member and besides I suppose we all make unintended forum-mistakes. At least I do. Even after 10 years (and my English is still a bit weird too, even after trying to improve myself for 10 years)
