I kinda want to know her fermentation method. Now that you-know-who has instituted tariffs on wine and other gifts of a gracious and loving God, I might have to start making my own.and isn't it amazing how confidence and ignorance can co-exist so happily?

I pull the whole oven shelf out.Probably because they seem like a good idea until you try to get them out of the oven with a hot baked something in them. Wobbly as all get out apparently!
It just tastes better when you stand in it!So essentially, y'all are telling me that no matter what I try, chickens, especially younger ones, are going to climb into their feed, and I might as well resign myself to it?
Hmmph, ok.![]()

Distilling is fun and tasty. It was legal for personal use in New Mexico. The person I learned from was very particular, so safe, no car parts were used. ;-)I kinda want to know her fermentation method. I wonder if a four-legged predator cruised through earlier in the day? (or last night) Any new dogs or cats in the allotment homes?
Fox?
I don't think it was because of a fox. I haven't seen the vixen for months and I haven't seen the dog foxes that come courting for a while either. Possibly a dog loose in the field. I have a feeling that the problem was human. I can't explain in any rational manner why I think this, it's just I've seen them nervous after people problems and this seems much like it.Maybe Mr. Fox was in the neighborhood last night. Nice to see the Jackdaw pay a visit.
The cheeky bird has landed on my hat before.that jackdaw looks right at home!Amazingly close. It could be a useful ally if there is a predator lurking close by; and the girls don't seem bothered by it. I'm glad you didn't discourage it.
I had a group of young starlings like that when I was staying on the farm. One came into my kitchen once, found the cat biscuits and started bringing others round. Recognising individuals was pretty much impossible but at least one of them got bold enough to start coming and just sitting on the kitchen table waiting for scraps off my plate. I'd often walk in and find them hopping around stealing food from under the beak of a chicken who was also after cat biscuits, usually while a big daft lump of cat was snoring obliviously within pouncing distanceThe cheeky bird has landed on my hat before. It's young and has been helping itself to the chickens food for a while now.
The other jackdaws will come within a couple of metres but won't risk what this young bird will. It will be okay, I don't eat jackdaws.![]()
