Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Of course I've got someone looking after me. Meet Boris. He/she has been living in that corner for over a year now
I am not irrationally terrified of spiders but do not typically like them in my house (we normally rescue them and relocate them to the garden.), however, we had a Boris that lived in the corner of our shower for almost 2 years. I don't actually know how long they live, and I did not see Boris for several months, however, recently, I saw a spider that looks an awful lot like Boris, but larger, in the kitchen. I like to think that it is Boris, I talked to him all during my showers and we seemed to have an understanding. LOL

I hope you are feeling better soon!

If Boris has been there for that long you should be able to tell if he's a he by now. He'll have little bulbs, like he's wearing boxing gloves on the end of his pedipalps (the short 'finger legs' they have near their mouth, in front of their eight proper legs).
They've got disgusting eating habits.:sick
No matter where I live, I'm apparently destined to always have a spider housemate who lives on the kitchen ceiling and likes to poo on the cooker.

I hope you are feeling better soon!
Yes! Do you have bronchitis, Shad?
Be careful going out and do physical work as long as you are not really better.

Bronchitis is one the few words that are written exactly the same in English as in Dutch. Bed, hotel, hostel, motel, computer, TV, oven, cooker, are a few more. Modern words are more often the same.

The Who was/is definitely not my favourite. I think I’m more a soft rock/psychedelic /listening type.
This is one of my todays favourites where old meets new.

I'm a fan of David Gilmour but that song is making me wonder, Are you OK @BDutch ? The lyrics are really melancholic.

The 4th egg was sitting stone cold in the middle of the coop floor when I opened up, so Paprika must have given up on it sometime after dark. Eggtopsy showed the chick was fully developed and apparently just failed to hatch; did not pip, for whatever reason. So the overnight chilling at 14 days did not apparently harm the foetus. It would be easy to assume that it was the one that didn't hatch, but I don't actually know that. All 4 eggs were so similar they were indistinguishable, and I did not number them this time (I usually do; would have been useful here; note to self: always number them). Anyway...

On a more positive note, Wrexham and Neyland have enjoyed their first mealworms and milk-soaked bread (Q was not quite ready to leave the nest yet at breakfast), and perhaps Pa will bring the trio out today. There is netting all around the coop to aid getting them back in, if assistance should be needed; I expect Paprika will find it very vexing, as she's probably got this
