You know the old saying, “There are no atheists in foxholes”? Well, at least around here, it appears that there are no flock divisions in bitter cold.
I started cramming the older pullets into the Nestera last Sunday night at lockdown. Tuesday night I started going back out at 10 pm or so and cramming them back in, although usually 1 or 2 of the olders had stayed in. Friday night I started putting the back on the Nestera to keep them in (it’s off during the day, door always closed.) Tonight I went out and everyone had put themselves to bed in the Nestera and gave me that chicken-y look of “human, what took you so long?”
Temp when I got up: 31°. 29° by the time I left for church. 21° around 4 pm. 18° now (6:30 pm.) Forecast overnight low: 11°. (In °C, roughly: -0.6°, -1.6°, -6°, -8°, -11.7°, respectively.)

- Oh, yes, and 20 mph gusts still going on, down from 30-40 during the night, although still nothing like what Shad puts up with on a daily basis.

It's given up on the 40mph to 50mph gusts and gone for a constant 20mph to 30mph.
