My husband asked (after first looking at the wattles and wondering if Glais was maybe a pelican) what breed he is, and I answered that I think he’s a deliberate mutt/mixed-breed, as part of Perris's ongoing trials.

If so, do we have any opinions as to the various breeds that have gone into this cockerel? (Or is he a rooster now?)

What Shad isn't telling us is that every evening before he leaves, he places tiny little weights on those wattles, elongating them gently every day.

No explanation for that monster comb, though.

His dad was (I think) Fforest, who is (I think) SFH x silver duckwing Welsumer, while his mum was (I'm sure) Dyffryn, who is (I think) partridge Penedesenca x SFH. Both parents were 3 at the time, and came from the first two cohorts here that were raised entirely on home made feed. All Fforest's sons are well blessed in the head ornament department, though Glais grew fastest and is a tad bigger in all dimensions than his brothers (though Talgarth's and Merioneth's combs may be bigger). He will be 1 on 3rd May.

That makes him pretty much exactly (±1 day) a week older than my Light Sussex cockerel then. I hadn't realised they were quite so close in age.

So maybe half Swedish Flower Hen, a quarter Penedesenca, and a quarter Welsumer?
