I am so tired! I did charge my camera and took pics, but the cord to put it on the comp is at the office.
the eggs all hatched here is the order, color and times:
Olive-out of greenish yellow egg top right ,B&W chick, day 22 sat.I dont have a time probably around 1pm.
Oralee- out of the middle top egg brown B&W chick, Sat day 22 just barely 3:30pm
4:00 pm turned day 23
Ova-top left, you cannot tell from pic it is a cream egg, B&W chick with a tad of brown by her face. Sat.day 23, 7:00pm
Oxona- Bottom right, light yellow chick (my big suprise!) 8:30pm, Sat day 23
Orabel-bottom left B&W 2:00 am?, sun. day 23
Oceana- middle bottom blue egg., B&w around 2:00? sun. 23 I woke up to cheeping at 2 that is how I knew the last two hatched, Oceana had her navel still connected to her belly and the lower shell. her white inner lining was dry and softish, so I trimmed the shell and left her navel and yolk connected and planned to remove it when she was done with it. I put her into a little sock to keep the other birds from pecking it. I am not sure how long she was peeping and trying to kick off the shell but she did get weaker and died.

I still thought they all did well for fridge eggs.

All the other chicks are doing well, Even though Orabel was the last to hatch, I think he is one of the happiest chicks. Olive and Oralee were the first to go in with the 5 day old chicks, I had them separated by a little box looked like a happy meal box, the birds got to visit and when they were strong enough I put them together. The all played and slept together. Now that the last 3 are ready to join, before I put anyone together, I noticed the RIR was into jumping on the other chicks for sport, and the naked neck were tall blonde clods.

Olive and Oralee were doing so well this rough housing didn't bother them. but I didn't want to take a chance with the really young ones. I put the NN and the RIR in a separate box, at least for a day or so, and the bantams I left with the younger chicks. Funny part is once I moved the RIR in to the smaller box with less chicks she calmed down and stopped jumping on everyone.

Thank you for starting this thread. I have no idea what I am doing when candling so I was hoping to see a video of what I am looking for, very appreciate of the videos.

I have a question. The eggs I want to candle are under a hen. How do I get hem out? How do I get them back? How do I know which ones have already been candled? I am so afraid that I will piss off the hen and she will quit sitting on them. If I do it at night the hen is sitting on them. If I do it in the day time in the brief moment she is up eating it is too bright to candle.

Does anybody have a video of the entire procedure of candling eggs that are under a hen?

Thanks!

I have candled eggs under hens MANY times! Just go out when it is dark with a flashlight. What I did was grab each egg one at a time, candle, and set it to the side of the nest so that I don't candle it again. The hens never minded and the eggs will be just fine :)

What entire process do you need? Just reach under and grab them :p
