We picked up three chicks this weekend from a local store - basically a chick middle-man (middle-chick?). Two Wellsummers and a Golden Laced Wyandotte. They're so cute! Only regret is that we couldn't get a Silkie. My daughter really wanted one, but they're not available until April unless we buy eight of them (not an option!).
They'll be added to our flock with what we think is an Easter Egger and five Rhode Island Reds, but they're all at least four years old, so it will be nice to keep getting eggs in the future.
We got these 4 (hopefully) girls today. They're supposed to be barred rocks but one has a rose comb so guessing shes not. Wasnt planning on getting any more babies anytime soon but they needed saving.
My broody hatched one last week! Itās a total barnyard mix, the rooster is a Japanese bantam and the egg came from a hen that I think is a wyandotte EE mix.
Mine hopefully will hatch Feb 8/9. Fingers crossed.... out if 24 eggs only 5 look like they are developing. Itās early in the season so most eggs werenāt fertile.
We have some babies that are about 2 weeks old. We ordered olive eggers, sapphire rocks, australorps, and barred rocks from Townline and just love them.
