I found incubator plans awhile back to make an 1800's style one that uses a hurricane kero lamp and water system to heat it. Seriously thinking about trying my hand at it and seeing if I can get it to work.

eggs are starting to arrive for my next and last batch of the season. I think I have like 60 going in?? I dont know where the heck Im going to put them??

On a very sad note yesterday was my day from he!!-too much stuff but the straw that broke the camels back was being told by Mark ( cause he feeds and waters in am) that one of my split lav silkie hens was dead in nesting box!!! he saved her for me and I found nothing wrong with her?? She had a full but pliable crop-she was meaty-no blood-no broken bones-nothing--I was heart broken--that leaves me only 2 split lav hens in that pen:-( I do have 2 eggs going in bator to test fertility again so-IDK I think Im giving up on them and concentrate on other things...two years I worked on them to dwindle down to nothing...heartbreaking is all...

thanks.. just so sad you know??? I just had an idea where all these babies are going to go! By the time this next batch hatches out-it will be close to march-warm enough for my OE's to go outside in outdoor pen!!!! Ill have to do some digging Im sure to make paths and such but the coop was cleaned before winter hit so I can put them right in and not have to worry about freezing temps? By that time outdoor and overnight temps stay above freezing 20-30's the whole time and warmer...sooo the birds should be just fine and Ill have a 10 x 10 indoor brooder pen for all of them!!!! I can stick a heating lamp in there for them without a problem!!! oooh I love it when things come together!

My silkies-since I only have 3 left and two porcelien roos from Bob I might just let them out into general population for a bit to have their pen too...Im keeping them for a funky "project" I want to do this summer
