The lacing is nice, but a neck only a mother (or father) could love.

Sounds like you probably have a pair, the bare shouldered youngster being your cockerel.

Many thanks! That is the best I could hope for! I know you are working with stealth to convert us all to Brahma lovers.

I'm just an enabler, the Brahmas handle the rest on their own.

your birds are quit snuggly Big Meds:) settling in wonderfully:) How old do you think they are..If I had to guess 4-5 months???

I'm back from the poultry show in maine. my blue laced reds got best of variety and reserve (they were the only ones of course) but I got some good pointers from the judge. my white wyandotte got 4th of 4 but the judge said, if she was a bit older, she would have beat all the other whites (and get this, a white wyandotte took best in show) so I was really pleased. my son's white silkie did well, best of color, and 2nd best silkie in jrs. out of 6, and 2nd in novice showmanship his first time out. we got lots of very nice comments from everyone on his silkie.
I'm glad the chickenstock went well, wish I could have gone. I'm really tired now, that was a long day and in bed by 8:00.

My god Gary, do you handle ALL of your birds daily? They have got to be the friendliest most calm chickens I've ever met!

No, especially not this year, these guys pretty much raised themselves, (my wife and daughter would dispute that). I spent way less time, because of my knee, than ussual with these guys. Like I've said before on these boards, life is too short to put up with crazy, flighty, or mean birds. Having breed them for so long I may have been biased toward preferring the calmer birds for my breeders, but Brahmas in general are such sweethearts. All you wyandotte breeders look away from the screen now, but I could not get rid of the BLRW male fast enough that I used to start my blue laced red Brahma project. It probably was just a individual personality thing as I doubt so many people would be raising dottes if they all acted like him,(unless of course they had not experienced Brahmas), and I still think I can see some of his personality traits carrying over into some of his decendants what 4 generations later. I look at type, color, and personality when choosing my breeders.
