Aww, what a nice guy you are!

We are bracing to get 3 inches of rain here in the next 24 hours. Gotta move the silkies to high ground so they don't drown, since water tends to puddle up where their coops are when we get a lot of rain.

Have you seen Big Ben taking care of business?

not once! he's too ..well...gentle! I have heard him crow from time to time but thats it..and I was down there for about two hours on SUn cleaning out their pens-nada! zip ziltch-

He's just young, give him time. In fact the cockerels that mature faster usually finish a smaller adult size, it's the late bloomers who are spending their energy developing size and frame, before they get interested in the ladies. Once the days start getting longer and they get that early spring sun on their backs, everything will fall into place.

Now as to his name, Gentle Ben is a good fit. But as a Browns fan, and a human being, referring to him as Big Ben makes me flinch some.

Ah. Wasn't aware you had that weird association!

Don't even know who that is, but I will guess. Ben R whose name I can't spell but phonetically Rotlessburger? Why is he a pig? Didn't know he was called Big Ben. What about the famous clock?

It's funny, but everyday when the sun first hits the chicken pen, Josephine and Zoe are first into the sunshine. They love that early sun.

When we were at Big M's place, we heard the head SLB rooster crow once and his daughter's bantam roo crow twice. It was a real quiet group. Even the young sparing goober roos were totally quiet. Bunches of chickens and hardly a sound as they strolled around. I don't expect Gentle Ben will be a big talker.

Isn't he, though? If he doesn't watch out, he is going to ruin his image!

Are silkies like turkeys and will drown in the rain, or they don't know to move to higher ground?

Bob, since she doesn't seem to have much short term memory, can you move her in and tell her she is visiting? I don't mean to sound flippant about the question, I'm wondering if it would work or be OK to do that?

And there are more, by most accounts pretty much a class A hole.
