It only looks like that 3 months out of the year:-( We bust our butts all late Spring and Summer cleaning and planting and grooming. We are now house poor for sure..haha. My in laws live next door 8 months out of the year-but I love them and wouldnt have it any other way. The previous owners ripped us off and decieved us really bad and it wasn't seen until 3-4 months into the house. The whole roof-leaked in every room-every ceiling had to be ripped down and replaced-the stainless steal appliances looked fabulous-but the large microwave broke a few days after we bought it-the dishwasher needed serious repairs and still sucks...They lied about everything-all in all it cost us another 50 grand to fix it to be able to live in it through the winter. Not only that- they were" landscapers" so all garbage they took from properties were dumped on our property. We didnt see it because of summer growth-then late Fall came and the leaves fell from the trees. You know what was visible? 100's of tires, tons of useless garbage half buried, tons of broken pot's and plant holders now when I saw tons I mean 100's of BROKEN clay pots and such. I mean its been 3 years and we are still digging things up and properly disposing of it. Tons of metal garbage etc.. It makes me want to cry -the dump costs 5$ a tire. So everytime we go to the dump we throw a tire or two on the pile to try and get rid of them...I cant wait for the greenery to cover what we couldnt finish last fall!! LOL...We figure it will take 10 yrs total to have the house to the way we thought we were originally getting it.

Nat, that's really disgusting. When we sold our house on LI, we worked hard enough to get the house in better shape than we had lived in it!

But, when we moved into it, we made an opening for a door in the wall, and the wall studs were empty! You could crush them with your hand. I guess the termites ate that wall.

AHHH shes so cute! I love those long lovely legs-wish I had them! haha

Last year I had predators and it ripped my heart out. We did not lock the coops at night because we had them over a year and nothing-then all coops got raided for 2 weeks-locks went on everything and live traps all around at nightfall-caught 5 coons in 2 weeks-FIL makes coon skin hats for all the grandkids haha. Cant wait to set the traps again-nasty things -We have to re-do the big garage for better predetor control threw the roof!

There was so much more that was just "wrong" too the whole house has to be rewired-we had to get a new septic system-no isulation at all in the kids rooms so we have to put heaters in there all winter-the electirc bills 700+ a month wipes us out and takes all SUmmer to pay off!..This Summer we are putting in an outdoor woodstove to heat the house-I hope it pays off-If I didnt have enough to do I have to chop wood and stack all SUmmer now too! Ill be a suntanned buff chick! LOL Yeah Every house we ever bought we sold it in better condition than when we lived in it too-I always complained about how I didnt want to move because the houses were always FINALLY the way I enjoyed them! haha.. I firmly believe what comes around goes around. So Im sure someday they'll get theirs!

That is just beautiful Nat!

Sem....the Seramas could usually hold their own against the large breeds...kinda like a chihuahua haha

We started today on making our pond bigger...our run is such a mess...but can't wait until the grass grows back and starts to look good again....

Oh...and I agree with you Nat..continue with this thread when we start the new hatch...can you imagine how many pages we'll be up to then? lol

Thanks Mary:) We are knee deep in mud! The only thing thats enjoying that is the duck! forget keeping the entryway clean..good grief...We have 3 driveways and can't use the main one every Spring because it literally gets under 1 ft of water. We have to wait about 3-4 weeks for it to drain and dry before we attempt to drive on it without ripping up and creating rutts! I love greenery!

Sem, mine are locked in a run unless somebody is outside. We lost our blue cochin to an eagle 2 months ago, first predator attack. I have 2 dogs and 6 cats that keep most predators at bay. Ever since, all chickens in runs unless watched. I worry some about the cats since they are so small, but the cats usually stay away from the backyard when the chickens are out. My one cat dared to go out back 2 days ago, and got chased by my mild-tempered, scared of her shadow, lowest in pecking order, EE. Was laughing so hard when that happened I almost peed.

Well ladies, it's that time for me also. Just finished cleaning out the brooder, so chores are done for the night, thank goodness. Hope you all have a great night. Sure I'll "see" most of you tomorrow. Gonna be another gorgeous day

hey as far as the tires go, advertise them free on craigslist. farmers here in maine use them and so do construction sites (for covering blasting zones), then yo can get rid of them for free. also the metal, list it also free if you pu. you would be surprised what people will take and scrap metal is worth money.

Thanks Hoppy! We did get rid of alot of metal from a recycling guy-but dont you know he uncivered more half buried! argh..The ties are shot and of no use for anything but blasting haha! Id say we have about 100 left so I will do that. I told DH maybe we should use them to plant flowers in around the outskirts of property but he thought that was redneck overkill LOL...
