I am hearing you there!!! I have two in the ER in the brooder who can not walk. My vet friend told me if I can not do it Nat's way that i should put them in a paper bag in the freezer and they would get cold and go to sleep. What will I do about the peeping that I will hear outside of the freezer? I think I will ask the hubby to help after I leave for work.

I can eat roos and wack them off too. I don't like to of course but if I can't give them away or sell them I promised myslef I am NOT feeding into winter again with 6 extra roos...I got lucky and gave them all away this time. Last Summer I offed about 12-BO's-some polish-standard cochins..I feel guilty but they were spoiled rotten when they were alive. Now Will I off a BLRW roo-depends I guess--is he nice? is he fat? etc... haha

but all of my roos are nice gentle birds, so I have to look who is the best looking and keep it to 2 roos max. sometimes I just close my eyes, and choose that way because they are so close as to which one is better.

Ace... we were talking about eating extra roos, as far as putting them down hunny there's a few different ways to go. If you can tolerate it, decapitating seems to be fastest. I had to do that this year for the first time. If not, then dry ice in a cooler with a raised area to place the birds on supposedly works. Good luck

I sold my roos...yes sold them to someone who had no problem with freezer camp. I am resigned to the fact that I can not do it!

I could never off my roos. I do rehome them, sometimes to the feed store. But I understand those who do. I know their extras have had a good life till then. Actually the only thing that drives me nuts is people who enjoy it and call it a party!

Gotta post to keep my mind off my roo.

I decided to put my seramas into lockdown tonight, I read they could be earlier than big chickens.

The guy at the other feed store was looking for............Jersey Giants!!!!! So I'm taking him 2 cockerels and 2 pullets tomorrow. The 4 I'm keeping got a splotch of green nail polish on them so I know who they are, LOL

I can't cull a rooster either....just can't...I can't cull a chick..even tho I know deep down it won't make it....Greg does it....and I can't be around either...don't wanna see any of that lol We have a tom that we need to cull...because he goes after us....(been happening for at least 6 months..) still haven't done it....We are a bunch of wusses...lol

Well, that was the only color I could find that my DD must have left here. And it will stay on. I just chose the 4 that were liking me the best
