So sorry, Lovin... how many did you end up with? (Sorry. Haven't stayed on top of everyone.) What kind of bator do you have?

I have 2 Hovabator 1602n still airs. and I have NOT been able to keep them remotely regulated this hatch. Unless you keep them in a dark steady 65 degree room they fluctuate like yoyos WITHOUT opening them, touching them, adding water to them... you go to bed and it's 100.5 you wake up and its 96.8 or 103.4 THIS is why I've been having multiple chicks with rough navel. Not impressed. Time to invest in a better bator.

Lay a piece of bubble wrap over it. The window on top is where you lose your steady temps

I have a 1588 Little Giant (?????) and I've had great hatches in it for over a year. I turn eggs myself in it. I try to keep the temp as close to 100 degrees in it and it's worked fine, no spikes ever. If the temp gets low a bit, I just drape bubble wrap over the window. Might add a regular lamp if needed. I also have an rcom 20 I bought a few months ago. It keeps temps steady with no messing with it. I did have to calibrate it in the beginning so that 100 degrees was reading 100 degrees. But I put my brinsea spot check in there for a few days and it's steady. But it only holds 20 eggs. And now I use my 1588 for the last 3 days.

Oh yea, my best hatches have been with the temp 99.5 to 110.0, and the humidity around 37 %, then around 70% the last 3 days.

Sem that has to be a typo right?

Oh, no, thats real

Maybe 99.5 to 100 degrees, LOL

I was disappointed with a few hatches...had only 1 good one and that were the Orps and Turkens...hope to have a better hatch with these eggs....

I had 7 D'uccle eggs. I am down to three. The one with the bandaid on it quit. I feel like I murdered the chick. They should birth next friday.

My aunt and uncle from Germany are visiting, and coming to visit me tomorrow, so I spent hours cleaning coops, raking, etc, so it looks nice back there. This morning I moved my 2 Orp chicks in with the Faverolles. No one living on the patio right now. I think I found a home for those 4 serama chicks. They are so cute.
Then I spent a few hours doing housework (yuck) . My dog has seizure disorder, and the meds make him feel like peeing more-on the rugs. So I threw out the rugs and we will just live on tile floors. I am just so sick of coming home from work (12 hour night shift) and having to clean up right after walking in the door. Hubby has had it too. He's going to complain tho about not having rugs, but the man NEVER walks barefoot. He always wears shoes or slippers. So he has nothing to whine about.

That is one, but Walmart has them in the spring/summer, and I just bought two at our Walmart for .88 each. They don't light up, though. But I don't think you really need that.

So I candled before I locked down, which was a bit late. Removed one more egg that had been questionable, and is for sure a quitter now. It was one of Natalies mixes. But here's what I still have:

2 Natalie's mixes
5 BR/EE mixes from Lovin, even the two that are waxed are full of babies!!
1 SPL silkie
2 BMF (one a little behind??)
