2 eggs have pipped, 1 EE and 1 cochin. Hearing and seeing lots of egg movement though. Hopefully I wake up to new babies in the morning.
On the bator front- I cannot stand styrofoam incubators. I quit incubating last year when my bator fried during lock down and I lost all of my babies that were pipping. It was horrible, I cried for 2 days. I could not keep the temperature stable, it would either drop way low or spike to 110.
A couple of months ago, my hubby gave in (he's so good to me) and we bought a used gqf 1266 for $300, like new with new eggturners included on Craigslist. We took a Saturday drive two hours south and bought it. I am in love with it!!! my hubby and I are not good at being hands off, and the bator gets back to temp within minutes of us opening it. I have had very good hatch rates with it. The BLRW batches are the first shipped eggs i have done this season, and ALL of the (15) from both Hoppy and I lovefrizzles have at least started to develop. This has NEVER happened with a styrofoam incubator. We will see how many make it to the end.
If you are going to hatch eggs, and it is your passion/ or hobby, save yourself the tears and frustration and buy a quality incubator. It is paying for itself in the babies that pop out of it every week.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend everyone. Happy hatching!
