Im so sorry Carrie! That just rots...your mom knew you ordered the coops and all-why change her mind? I use ivermectin pour on for the birds 2x a year--love it-but I also use DE in everything to-took care of it immediately-got it at TSC for 15$ for a huge bottle that will last AT least 2-3 years

Carrie- that really sucks. I feel your pain, as I own goats that are at a friend's house and I have been having a really hard time finding them a place close to us. Mind you I rent a farm but he doesn't want goats and this farm touches my parents' and grandmother's, but they don't want any stock on their property. So basically 500 acres sits here doing nothing. At least the landlord hasn't expressed any interest in getting rid of my chickens yet. Any clue for the change of mind?

Does anyone have turkey eggs that they are willing to sell, trade, barter?

Hi sonew,
I had that happen with my eggs 2 wks. ago. 14 eggs. 3 hatched, the rest died during lockdown. I pipped them all on day26. I also had to cull the last 1 hatched, she wasn't eating or drinking at all just peeping constantly.

Sorry..Its not fun huh?

So I'm out in the coop, enjoying the birds before I leave... and alas... I think I have 4 roos and 4 hens in the juvenille pen... sigh... I'm not doing good on the wine dot front either... looking like 4 roos 1 hen...

Put panties on him and keep him inside. He can be your house chicken. That way nobody can hear him crow! Folks do that with roosters sometimes.

And have a really nice time on your trip! Don't forget to eat gross amounts of Brit food for me (minus the steak and kidneys)!

I hope you all are well. Hoppy, someday I'm going to get eggs from you, but apparently not soon, so don't sell your girls until then, ok

Ok, on to the question of mom and the coops. When I first talked mom into letting me get chickens (only took 2 years), she agreed to 6. Actually, she only wanted me to get 3, but could only order min of 6. Sooo, here we are 1 year later, and I have 50 hens, roosters, and chickies, plus another 10 eggs to go yet. Then it was 1 coop, then 2, then 2 more ordered lol. Between chickens, coops, and roses, I have taken over the entire backyard. Finally, she called "halt". So that's what happened. And now you know that until somebody calls halt to me, I can go a little over-board.

So please educate me on mites. I have never seen them. My girls all seem healthy. What would I be looking for and what do they do? should I treat preventatively?
