unfortunately I don't remember how mine developed(was 2 yrs ago) although it was definitely more yellow at hatch....
I don't know how it will develop, where did it come from? my mottle split has a couple flecks on her so I could tell her from a true blue. do you have a pic as a fuzzy chick?
black mottle looks similar to ancona as chicks...

She came from pips and peeps black/blue pen. She was one of eleven which were immediately put with 10 black Smith birds. I can't remember anyone being different. I guess time will tell.

No kidding! You are working way too hard! I guess it is harder to do with the rest of the family around.

I need to repaint the bathroom. I like to do the bathroom in outrageous colors. Bathrooms are so often BOORING! I think this time I'll go with violet. Maybe peacock or teal. It is a 1950s original tile in gray and maroon. White walls look so very blah with it. And the majority of the tile is GRAY. Depressing. It has been a bright green, but we had to take out the old gas wall heater and repair the hole. I was thinking moss green, but nah, too nice. I'd rather do a color that offends my inlaws.

Oh man, feel for you having to clean up after the dog! Great to wake up to. That is one noise that will bolt me staight up at night - a pre-barf dog gag. Out of bed running and yelling 'let's go outside let's go outside!' in that happy voice at 3am. Oh boy! Better than cleaning up barf at 3:02 am.

It is really surprising how many eggs I've hatched this year that produced chicks that were not quite as advertised. Lots of money and effort and expectations.

I heard that noise last night...then I put my head back on the pillow deciding to clean it up in the morning, whatever they didn't re-eat.

That ameracauna shot is precious! Glamour Queen! And that is really nice lacing on the cochin!

I have a question. Why isn't gold laced cochin feathering fuller, like the other colors? They never look as fluffy.
