Alot of times I go to Great Britain's chicken sites, seems they're more interested in chicken illness.

I like this one and also bought their book http://www.thepoultrysite.com/diseaseinfo/

7 out of 9 made it. I did help the last black one out a bit, by zipping the top of its shell, but it pushed its own way out. One didn't develop, but looked scramblrd when I opened it and the other one had a HUGE black chick that was shrink wrapped but still sticky and had hydrocephalus, or something. Anyway, I would have had to cull it, anyway.

7 little Nat-ettes, and they already have opinions about things!

Well I got my misters in the mail today, and hooked one up and it works well. It's about 3 feet high and shaped like a coil. I am going to put the two of them facing the waterer, this way anyone that comes to drink can stay and get cool if they're smart enough!

I qualified for a new cell phone that I got today. So for the next few weeks I'll be learning how to use it, LOL

Talk about wierd chicken illnesses, some of the horses here are colicking, seems like the weather is making alot of them colic. My friend's horse did and ended up at a clinic not far from Nava in Ocala. He got better. Then her friend's horse colicked bad, and got better at the clinic. They don't keep their horses together. A few at the barn too. The theory is that it's the heat and they may not drink enough. Someone also said that the barn has started putting chlorine in the water-by way of a liitle piece of pool chlorinator tablets. Well if that's the case, I don't think it's safe, so I will be taking my pool water test strips and see what's up. I know most of us see chickens drink out of mud puddles, but funny thing is that they all come running when I'm putting fresh water out!

MARY MARY, glad to hear from you . I hope you can stop in a little more and chat!

Hoppy- please keep us posted on what's going on and if we can help in any way. I dont come to Maine often but could if need be, just let me know.

Brindle- Those are definately some cute little chub-ettes. I love chicks. Too bad we're going into winter here already...

Sem- I know, there are so many diseases that look like so many others and I know we all run a risk of mareks, I just dont want to send a known possible carrier into another flock.

On another note I got a call from the neighbors tonight while I was at work. Apparently a "red chicken" was found up by the school (3 blocks away). I came home, he was brought home by the neighbors and hiding in a lilac bush. The ducks were loose. The fence was completely undisturbed. This tells me that for some unknown reason someone must have let my birds loose. I am way disturbed by this. Guess I'll be building proper lockable gated fences this weekend for the entrance to the chicken yard.

My car needs 1k of work... weeee!
