Anybody who wants a cochin rooster for nefarious purposes will be sadly disappointed. Hopefully a gay guy has more class than that. He probably just thinks the are SO PRETTY!

Well...He bought a cockerel. Very nice, very gay, and brought his mother. He said he has 3 pens, 60 hens and only one other roo he will be separated from. He feeds Purina, knew the flock raiser was the green bag, and the bird will ride home in his lap with air conditioning.

Isn't this the best we can hope for our surplus roos?

And he wanted the calmest one. He was a pretty boy who now has a very pretty bird.

I generally find that people willing to pay over a few bucks for a roo rarely do it with the intention of eating them. It wouldn't be worth it to them.

thats great....I have one gay guy customer and he hates roosters:-( go figure?

UH-OH! continues. I candled 7 eggs. 4 were nothing . 3 are growing. I'm guessing 2-3 days, 4days, and 6-7 days. Thank God I have 3 broodies going, one for each, LOL. I can't throw the eggs away when there's little dots, veins, and maybe movement.

A week or so ago, the crow was helping himself to the silkie eggs in the coop. But then I closed 1 door so he cant' get in, and I forgot to collect eggs, since he wasn't getting them anymore

ughhh...I do love little surprises but not eggs in hidden nests! I have been wondering why I have not been getting squat for eggs for the past 2 weeks...well I found 3 yup 3 hidden nests around the property-one with 3 one with 7 and one with 10 eggs in it-it had been in the 90's last week so I threw them all away what a waste!!! Now this weekend its been cold! 50-60 so I locked up the girls until they laid eggs and let them out for the day around 4pm-terds!

Dak, those are lovely birds. Each color is gorgeous.
I, for one, had a pet roo in NY, and bought one down here when we got our house. Nice pets.
I spent a few months roo-less the beginning of the year. I felt empty not hearing the crowing.
I have 5 spare roos right now. I think I could part with 2 of them. Maybe Craig's list. Or maybe Nava if she wants a large blue JG roo.

Brindle, we used indomethicin on preemies with a patent ductus . It's supposed to close at birth so the blood goes thru the lungs for O2. If it doesn't work they need surgery to close it. How weird that you are on it for your arthritis.

Nat. Cold??? It's still 90 here during the day and 70's at night. But I'm used to it now.

Oh, and another oops. I thought I was flying to SA to visit my DD on the 13th. Well today I realized it's on the 9th!!!!!! I am behind schedule now. I thought I had a week to play here before I left! It's a good thing I finished my "day pen" today. I have a big coop and pen for 26 chickens. But on the nights that we're both working, I have to keep the chickens in the pen all day because there's no way to catch them before it gets dark. So I built another pen on the other side of the coop, so they have more room. That part will be closed off before we leave since it's not "night time" safe. So when I'm gone, DH has it much easier.

Think the flux in weather has caused my chickens to develop a cold

There are no new birds, nothing changed, so I figure it's because the 3 that were sick wouldnt come out of the storm the other day and insisted in sleeping in the cold outside. What do you guys think? Tylan? Sulmet? Duramycin? They have sneezes and runny noses. Certainly upper respiratory. Still eating, drinking, scratching so no acute distress, any thoughts? I brought the worst one (Dotte) inside to sleep for the night in the kennel.

Yeah, $10 bucks buys alot of KFC. Sonew, I probably should ask more, but I don't want to deal with shipping at the moment, and I was kinda going off what I saw birds selling for at the county fair (not much).

I think that sounds like a really good home!

Oh geez. I guess I would put Sulmet in her water for 4 days and see if that clears it up. Sulmet is pretty good stuff. If it gets worse or doesn't clear up I would go to Tylan injectable. Just me.
