I guess the hen I bought from Mugsmagee is famous for double yolkers, should be able to start supplying you soon.

REALLY!!
FANTASTIC
Thanks so much!
I would love a hen that regularly laid DY's. Would even keep a rooster until I had enough data.

If I get anymore, I'll definately set them, but I haven't had any in a while. The pullets are laying quite regularly now. My Ameaucanas should start laying soon. They were 5/10-11/2010 hatch and starting to pink up.

Just bought some organic pumpkins yesterday and had them in the crockpot all night! I will know exactly what's in my pie tonight!

How to you do your pumpkins? Mine are ready to harvest and I have a bunch.

Dak, I peeled them with a vegetable peeler and cut them in half and scooped out the seeds. Then I chunked the pumpkin and put it in the crockpot with a cup of water and cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and 2 cups of sugar and let is cook on high all night. In the morning I took my hand mixer to it an blended it all together and then I water bathed it and that's it! I know some people say you shouldn't can pumpkin but I've been doing it for 3 years and no problems. I guess if you wanted you could skip the canning part and freeze it after blending it.

I just cooked up some pumpkin muffins with it and they are devine! I used the recipe from The Pioneer Woman's blog. Made her meatloaf on Friday too and it was great, and I don't even like meatloaf! LOL

Shipping this time of year should be okay. You can put some fruit, like watermelon in the box, and try to find some of that bubble stuff which has water in the bubbles. I got my first chicken that way. The USPS ships them 2 day shipping or something like that. The USPS can provide you with more info.

Thanks, My hubby likes pumpkin cranberry bread yearround and none of the grocery stores around here carry canned pumpkin anymore except at the holidays. I freeze everything. Canning is beyond my patience.

Thanks SOOOO much. BTW what color are your Ameraucana eggs?

First- my Dominique made a liar of me and laid a DYer today. She must have heard you. I cleaned the incubator and set it at 6:15pm.

Second- My Ameraucanas are Black/Blue and Lavender. Unless you meant the actual egg color. In that case, I don't know yet how blue they will be. They all came from top breeders so I would hope it would be pretty good.
