They have no idea the time, energy, money and pure love that goes into our flocks. It's nice that he wants to help, but seriously, would they think it was a cavalier money thing if it was your cat the husky killed? Most people see chickens as barnyard critters. No idea what they are really all about, and it is disappointing, and heart breaking but don't give up. I took a chicken to my vet one day to be euthanized, I was crying and said to Jack "This is why I shouldn't have pets" Jack looked at me and said "This is EXACTLY why someone like you should have pets, because you care." So dont give up OK? I'll send you some hatching eggs as soon as I can get my flock separated. We'll get you all set up. The corronations, I cant help you with those, but I can if you like Polish? Or maybe olive eggers?

We only let her off leash when we are in the yard with her. But, she has a STRONG herding instinct and I can't swear on any graves that if we weren't paying close attention she wouldn't run off to the neighbor's farm to help out with any "round up needs." Luckily, she is more interested in getting everyone in their place rather than killing them, so that relieves some pressure.

BTW: Chickens do not appreciate being told where to go and wind up more scattered after she "helps" out than before.

Lovins: It gets my dander up too, Husky's are notorious escape artists and have a strong prey drive. The owner should know this and have taken preventative measure to ensure his pet was contained properly as his neighbors have animals. That being said...I'm with Brindle on this one. At least the owner felt bad and wants to make it right. I know money won't cover the care, love and time that has been put into these pets, but what else can they do now? I see so many posts where dog owners take no responsibility and have no compassion. So, I am somewhat comforted that this person has an actual sense of ownership.
