My DD is sick as well. Have to work at home today SHAME.
Let see there is that mountain of laundry........clean house for lab party, clean coup, and worm etc birds...

Nat how much ivermectin do you use on a chicken? And I will also schmoose Lyons about the rcom 50. What is the cheapest you have seen and can you send me the link?

Also as the sharks are collectively collecting the most amazing of amazing birds, is anyone interested in these BEAUTIES???

I LOVE the idea of preserving a very unique and endangered "species/variety" . There are only about 1000 of these left in the world. So pleased that GGF has got some. If I could raise just one variety of chicken (+ roos of course) it would have to be these.

Hopefully the price will come down... soon.....or they will sell eggs or chicks....... NEED that farm (and some chicken $$$)

OK, J is out taking pics now and I am in the house with the sicko sulking. My car is broke again and I am about ready to shoot the dang thing!

Now it is in the shop and they had better be able to figure out what is wrong with it. Hopefully it won't take them long to fix it and I will have it back Monday at the latest.

As for the sicko, not only does she have a sore throat, I think she has pink eye, too.

Have to wait for J to come back and have him look and see what he thinks. If so, it's his turn to stay home tomorrow with her. Lucky him!

Phage, sorry your DD is sick, too.

As for those chickens, they are so pretty! I have looked at that thread before and drooled over them.

Hi, everyone, got off a bit earlier and actually get to stay home and not be Supermom tonight!! Whoo hoo.

Positive of the week:

After 20 nonfertile coro eggs and 16 eggs that had a temp spike at hatching, the 3rd hatch is a charm. Hatched 2 very cute coro chicks out of 3 that made it to lockdown. Yay!! Needless to say they will be spending there winter, well at least the next few weeks sunbathing in my living room. I also have 18 coro/ split eggs from Rockinpaints and 12 from an ebay seller that will be started today. The eggs from the ebay seller were a bit strange shaped and not exactly the most quality of eggs. Rockinpaints were BEAUTIFUL! Great shape, great size, hoping for a successful hatch.

A new start on my coro project has begun.

2nd Positive:

I am very excited to have 16 Icelandic eggs in the incubator and to be part of the preservation of this rare breed. Fingers and toes crossed for a great hatch.

I also have 16 bbs lf cochins (hoping for a couple more pullets to go with my lonely girl) and 12 blrw eggs (also hoping for a couple more pullets) from ilovefrizzles and 6 bbs orpington eggs from rockinpaints cooking in the bator.

Negative:

Ummm, this is Seattle and its supposed to snow this week- we had a windstorm and many lost power a couple days ago. Where is my normal rain?? Grrr. These eggs will officially be the last I hatch for the winter. I grounded myself from the auctions and buying eggs until February. This makes me sad, as I love hatching!! I just cannot take the risk of losing power.

I was on your list! Gosh darn it, I just promised to stop hatching and then you throw complete and total temptation to me. So not fair. I have lost like 6 silkie auction this past month, do I need then, nope. But I really want the walking fluffballs, and my 8 year old loves them. I promised I would try and find her a little flock she could possibly show in 4H. They were recommended as they are so gentle and easy for a small child to handle.

I love that my daughter loves chickens like her mommy. My 11 year old son looks at me like I have grown 2 heads whenever I ask for chicken help, lol. I have heard "you are so weird" more then once, lol.

Just to demonstrate how awesome an R-com suro is... I set a bunch of old partially incubated button eggs a couple weeks a go just for giggles, so I could see how steady the temps stayed. Now these eggs had been partially incubated by the hens, on and off, were left unattended. Then placed in the suro, I have not stopped the cradle as I figured they were a no go. When I left for work this morning I had already had to put 2 little bumblebee sized quail in a brooder... and another is pipped and almost fully zipped. I have had the lid off, the power off (while I wired in a switch) the humidity joggled around. So either it's the bator that is totally uber or these really are crazy little birds to hatch. I call one "zippy the wonder quail" the other is "Butters" (yellow) might name the one that is hatching Peanut. I have never seen such tiny little birds in my entire life!
